Kinshasa, December 7, 2025 (ACP) — The 3rd edition of the TROPHÉE TOMBWAMA, which aims to recognize people and organizations contributing to infrastructure improvement in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was announced on Saturday for December 14 in Kinshasa, during a press briefing in the country's capital.
"This third edition, to be held on December 14 at the Hôtel du Fleuve in the Gombe municipality, will mark the 13th anniversary of the magazine 'Infrastructures et Développement'. The TROPHÉE TOMBWAMA aims to recognize people and organizations contributing to the improvement of infrastructure in the DRC, a sector considered decisive for economic development," said Aimé Mutombo, the initiative's founder.
Held this year under the theme "Building now for a thriving Congo," the initiative aims to highlight national talent and encourage a dynamic of progress at a time when infrastructure remains an essential pillar of development.
Mr. Mutombo stated that laureates are selected exclusively on the basis of the work accomplished.
"We want to recognize those who are truly building on the ground. Laureates are selected according to the quality of the work carried out in their respective fields," he affirmed.
These awards aim to recognize the diversity of contributions to infrastructure development, ranging from public works to community initiatives, as well as technological and urban projects.
Individuals, institutions and companies to be honored
According to the organizers, this edition will particularly highlight the individuals, companies and institutions that have distinguished themselves in the design, execution or management of infrastructure deemed essential to social and economic progress.
It also plans to award around twenty laureates from the public and private sectors. The distinctions concern those who have distinguished themselves through significant achievements in the construction, rehabilitation or modernization of infrastructure.
The awards planned for this edition notably include: the Grand Builder Award, the Honor Award, the Excellence Award, the Builder Award, and the Jury Award. The 2nd edition of the TROPHÉE TOMBWAMA, held last year in Kinshasa, brought together several stakeholders from the infrastructure sector around the recognition of projects deemed structuring for national development.
